Rocky Mountain Horse Dream has formed a partnership with Mentor Agility to implement the "Veterans Talking to Veterans" (VTTV) program of the Wyoming Veterans' Commission.
This group and individual coaching initiative was established in reaction to a concerning increase in the number of veterans contemplating or threatening suicide as a result of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021. Created by Dr. Julie Elledge, in cooperation with her staff at Mentor Agility, Wyoming's Veterans Talking to Veterans program has already had the profound impact it was designed to have by intervening in a number of veterans' suicidal intentions and is credited with saving more than 14 lives since its founding.
"Veterans Talking to Veterans" is one of Governor Mark Gordon's initiatives aimed at eradicating suicide within the veteran community in Wyoming. We are proud to be a part of this remarkable, unique, and award-winning program.
Mentor Agility has and continues to offer a comprehensive training curriculum carefully crafted to provide veterans seeking to become coaches a robust foundation in trauma-informed coaching principles, psychology, and ethical practices.
The experiential training is a transformative journey designed to empower VTTV coaches to maximize individual and group clients' potential, as well as make a profound impact on those navigating trauma and seeking healing, especially in times of transition.
The proven effective training program aligns with the rigorous standards established by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaches (NBHWC) and International Coaching Federation (ICF), enabling successful graduates to sit for certification examinations and earn either one or both of these highly respected and valued credentials.
In addition to meeting or exceeding the standards established by these internationally recognized organizations, Mentor Agility trains the coaches in their exclusive storytelling approach to coaching through the lens of their proprietary Hero's Journey Change Model, and group coaching through storytelling to guide clients through a process for realizing their full potential.
In May 2024, Robert completed his training at the VTTV Trauma Informed Coaching program, celebrated with a poignant and uplifting ceremony at the National Military Vehicle Museum in DuBois, Wyoming. Since his graduation, he has collaborated with the University of Wyoming's Veteran Service Center to create a VTTV cohort aimed at supporting the nearly 700 veteran students at UW. This year, we plan to conduct weekly group coaching sessions and provide individual coaching upon request. Additionally, we are initiating a cohort in Laramie for veterans not connected to the university, which will also meet once a week in the evenings.
This year is shaping up to be a thrilling one for coaching. We're exploring the possibility of introducing Equine Assisted Coaching for both our student veterans and those living in or around Laramie.
We will continue to provide updates on our developments!
