WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Post Trauma Growth: Learning to Live with Your Mind and Body's Reactions to Traumatic Events

This workshop is designed for Veterans who have experienced difficulties or challenges in their personal or professional lives as a result of trauma or "moral injury" associated with their service to our Nation.

This highly experiential learning opportunity focuses on developing skills to: (1) Find and experience Acceptance outside of a military or deployed environment; (2) Establish, maintain, recognize, and respect your own and others' Boundaries, focusing on pro-social behaviors; and (3) Explore Connection in safe and supported surroundings.

This experiential Equine Facilitated Coaching and Learning workshop is offered over two days, normally starting at 9am each morning and ending at 4pm each afternoon. In most cases, a private equine facility hosts the workshop for local Veterans or Veteran's Services Organizations. Registration fees include one 45-minute follow-on coaching session delivered via Zoom within 30 days of completing the workshop for each participant.

  • This is not therapy.
  • This is not counseling.
  • This is about learning life skills to serve you going forward.

The content of this workshop is based on the personal experiences of the facilitator and the research and writing of Linda Kohanov (The Power of the Herd, The Tao of Equus, and her Eponaquest Method) and the work of Virginia Cruse, a U.S. Army combat veteran and licensed professional counselor specializing in military issues and combat-related trauma. Workshop participants will receive a copy of Virginia's book "The Soldier's Guide to PTSD: How to No-Sh*t Reclaim Your Life."

NO PREVIOUS HORSE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.

This is a groundwork-focused workshop, meaning there is NO RIDING and no expectation of being off the ground.

Travel instructions, directions, and specific information related to the facility and workshop are provided upon registration.

Participation is normally limited to eight people to ensure each participant has the opportunity to engage with the material fully and to have ample time with the horses. If your organization or group has more than 8 participants, special arrangements can be made to accommodate your needs. Custom pricing will be provided.

Contact us to schedule an on-site workshop for your organization, team, or group. You can also request to sponsor a workshop at your facility as a fundraising opportunity for your non-profit organization. Custom pricing and organization-specific registration page and content will be provided.
